The best way to ensure increased funding for the MEP program is to have Representatives support the MEP Program through member requests and by signing a Dear Colleague Letter (DCL). A “Dear Colleague” letter is an official piece of communication written by members of Congress and is used to encourage their colleagues to support, cosponsor, or to oppose a bill or issue. The goal is to get as many signatures in support of the letter as possible, so when it is time to pass the federal funding bills, members of Congress can see how much of a priority it should be. Annually, a sponsor in the House author and circulate a DCL in support of NIST MEP. The current letter and signatures are below:
